I have the same problem right now in Yosemite 10.10.1 with VoodooHDA 2.8.7 on my Emachines E732ZG laptop with AMD Mobility HD 5470 graphics and the same ALC272 audio codec. Right after startup sound works, but only for 3 seconds, then it dies. Changing the audiodevice in system settings solves the problem for the next 3 seconds, same as changing midi settings. Another interesting thing: the lower the midi sample rate, the longer the sound works. I've tried various versions of voodoohda, if the sound devices appear in system settings the result is allways the same.

Has there been any progress? I have also a Alc272x in my Emachines E732ZG laptop, and installed Yosemite 10.10.1 via Clover and VoodooHDA.kext 2.8.7. After adding the NodesToPatch in info.plist the sound devices apper in the osx sound preferences correctly, and sound works great for the first 3-5 seconds depending on the frequency in AudioMidiSettings (the lower the frequency, the longer the sound works). Switching the frequency helps temporarily. I've read that other people are facing the same promblem (also with other chips), without any solution yet. I've already tried AppleHDA witch didn't work for me, and since sound obviously works, and given the much more comfortable 'patching' of VoodooHDA, I don't want to use the Apple driver.

I also tried different settings in Clover, and Info.plist and I played around with dsdt, pretty much along the whole day, the problem appeared in almost all cases, if the devices appeared in the system settings, so I dont think that the problem is VoodooHDA itself. I've read that wrong FSB settings may cause distortion or crackeling sound, could this maybe cause this problem too? If yes from where do I get the value that has to be in the Clover FSB key?

Or do you have some other ideas? Well, you won't believe it, but after trying a lot of different things I deleted voodoohda.kext so there was no sound driver on the system. Then I booted up and started iTunes and noticed that if I play a song, iTunes shows the song, but makes no signs of playing it. The time of the song remains on 0 and the 'progress bar' (you know, the bar on the top of iTunes) doesn't move either. I also tried some AppleHDA.kext, which did not work neither. After opening my Lapt I found out that theres a ALC272x codec on the mobo, but theres also a HDMI device from the Radeon 5470. I downloaded SystemInfo, and added the IDs to several voodoo kexts, with no success. The Interesting thing is that every time I want to access sound preferences the system preferences freeze and I have to force quit.
